about

From recording demos to tape cassette in the early noughties, to linking with fellow Macclesfield artist Chris Leese and forming Four-Max in 2010; to teaming up with YouTube sensation Dan Bull and attracting BBC attention, followed by the cult classic self-titled 'Corners' album alongside his fellow group members Benny Diction and Deeflux, Beit Nun has been independently releasing music for 20 years.

In 2019, seeking a new direction whilst yearning for inspiration in the midst of a dark period of writer's block, he would stumble across 'The Night You Came Around' on YouTube, by local artist Dan James. Whilst aware of Dan's output as frontman of DandelionJames, the striking similarities between Dan and himself had been overlooked. Though their respective genres were worlds apart, their shared passion and purpose was irrevocably evident.
Nun would embark upon convincing Dan to oblige in a collaboration, insistent on demonstrating his vision. In their first studio session, 'All That I Need' was recorded, and released along with an accompanying music video, and would showcase both artists in an all new and exciting light.

2020 was a year nobody anticipated, with the Coronavirus pandemic thrusting the world into a series of lockdowns. With musicians unable to perform, and very little to occupy creative minds, the two would get together weekly in the studio, calling upon Macclesfield producers Eddie Cooper, Jut, Mecca:83, Sam David and Wynder to provide the musical backdrops for their writing.
Within 6 months there was a collection of 10 songs, organically forming the skeletal foundations of an undeniably cohesive body of work. 'Conversations'.

The final piece of the puzzle was to call upon the skills of fellow Maxonian artist KREK, who has himself over the years deservedly established himself firmly within his respective field. KREK would perfectly capture the character of the record; fully encompassing it's essence in a strikingly bold and somewhat iconic visual representation.

'Conversations' reflects primarily on friendships, relationships and self-analysis, and whilst sometimes raw and uncompromisingly honest, retains a warming theme of positivity. From Boom Bap Hip-Hop to progressive guitar licks over low-fi soul and jazz infused breaks, along with a guest appearance from Macclesfield singer/songwriter Josh Wood, 'Conversations' is a complete body of work, presented with balance, to display a wide-range of what both artists have to offer.
